Fairer UK Rail Fares Now!
How much do you think is the average price of a rail ticket in the UK?
£30? £50? £100?
It's actually under £7
(But unless you're a commuter with a season ticket, you'd never know it.)
The UK rail fare system is wildly inconsistent. One person pays £8. Another pays £108 — for the same route. It's confusing, unfair, and deters people from using trains.
It doesn't have to be this way.

So What's the Problem?
Why does it feel so expensive?
Because the system is broken and unfair
There are over 55 million rail fare combinations
Prices change wildly depending on how early you book
You might be charged three times more than the person next to you — on the same train
Meanwhile, driving or flying often ends up cheaper
The result?
Fewer people use trains. More people rely on cars and planes. And we all lose.
✅ Then: "A Better Way"
It doesn't have to be this way.
We believe in a simple, distance-based fare system:
Journey Distance - Flat Fare
0–50 miles £5
50–100 miles £10
100–200 miles £15
200+ miles £20
✔ Easy to understand
✔ Fair for everyone
✔ Much cheaper than today's prices
✔ Could raise £12–15 billion a year — more than the current system
Even modest fare levels could help fund better trains, new lines, electrification, and modernisation — without pricing passengers off the network.

❓ Why hasn't this already been done?
Good question. The truth is: it's not because it can't be done. It's because no one in power has been willing to do it.
Here's what's held it back:
🧩 A fragmented rail system — dozens of operators, confusing contracts, and competing incentives
💰 Fear of lost revenue — even though our model could bring in more
⚖️ Winners and losers — a simpler system would benefit most people, but some short-distance fares might change
🤷 Lack of political courage — it's easier to tinker than to lead
But that's no excuse.
Other countries have done it — and it's worked.
Germany has a €49 monthly pass
Austria's KlimaTicket gives unlimited rail travel for around £3/day
Other countries have regional flat fares and capped pricing
So why not the UK?
